Road construction

Some road construction near my house.

This crack in the asphalt has a similarity with the roots of a plant. Funny how nature is visible in an ordinary street scene.

Rain and climate change

window_rain

Some days it’s just better to stay at home.
What you see it the result of a heavy rainstorm in front of my house.

Water covers 71% of our planet, sometimes awful and allot of it in Holland. In some parts of the US people may not sprinkle their garden, because of the drought and shortage of water in big cities. It seems not only 3rd world countries struggle with the problem of water becoming a luxury good. That’s certainly not the point at my place.

In Europe we have the opposite. If we don’t act we may drown in the future, especially the cities near the sea. This is because of the rising sea level and the change of climate and melting ice. Cities like Amsterdam, The Hague or Rotterdam have to act against the water in order to keep it dry.

In the documentary of Al Gore called “An inconvenient truth” you can see the devastating outcome of rising water on grounds below sea level. Scientists say the sea level rises 2mm each year, if you speed it up it looks like this. How inconvenient is that?!
